Orango was founded in 2023 by chemical engineer and educator Matt Breidigan with one goal: make chemistry make sense.

How Orango started

From one tutor noticing a pattern to a team trained in one method.

After earning a Chemical Engineering degree at UW–Madison, Matt started tutoring college chemistry while working as an engineer.

Students at different universities, with different professors and textbooks, struggled with the same concepts for the same reasons.

The students were capable. They just weren’t being taught in a way that helped them understand.

Over hundreds of students, Matt refined a structured way of teaching that breaks chemistry into clear, logical steps.

The method worked across schools and courses, so it could be taught to other tutors. That became Orango.
